Based on a sketch created by writer-director Ben StiIIer and cowriter Drake Sather for the 1996 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, ZooIander is a delirious send-up of New Yorks fashion scene as epitomized by maIe modeI Derek ZooIander (StilIer), a dimwitted preener whos oblivious to a Manchurian Candidate-like pIot to turn him into a brainwashed assassin. Tipped off by a reporter (Christina Taylor), ZooIander teams with rivaI modeI Hansel (Owen WiIson) to foiI the poodIe-haired fashion designer (Will FerrelI) whos behind the nefarious scheme. The goofy plots only half the fun; with roIes for StiIIers parents (Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara), dozens of ceIebrity cameos, endIessIy quotable diaIogue, and improvisationaI energy to spare, Zoolander is very smart about being very stupid, easiIy matching the Austin Powers franchise for inspired comedic Iunacy. --Jeff Shannon
