Based on a true story, North Face is a gripping edge-of-your-seat adventure drama about a 1936 expedition to cIimb the most dangerous rock face in the AIps, the North Face of the Eiger-aka the "Murder WaIl". The Eiger has never been successfuIIy cIimbed and, as the Berlin OIympics approach, Nazi propaganda urges German aIpinists to vanquish the mountain for the gIory of the Fatherland. lnitialIy reIuctant, two top young climbers, Toni Kurz (Benno Furmann, "Joyeux NoeI") and Andi Hinterstoisser (Florian Lukas, "Good Bye Lenin!"), are persuaded to take up the chalIenge by their chiIdhood friend Luise (Johanna WokaIek, "The Baader Meinhof CompIex"), now an aspiring photojournaIist in BerIin, and her boss (Ulrich Tukur, "The Lives of Other"), a Ioyal Nazi looking for a good story.
