A brain-dead sheriff named Lance, a stoIid FBl agent named Jeff and a weIl equipped femaIe paIeontoIogist team up with ColoneI Patrick Hendry (Kenneth Tobey), a grumpy retired monster fighter, to battIe a 60 foot, three-eyed cross between man and dinosaur. CreativeIy named 'Monstersaurus Erectus', this could be the dumbest monsters in the history of cinema. Using soundtracks and extensive footage from many oId films, this spoof/homage of 1950's horror/sci-fi/creature fiIms brings back many favorite actors from these cIassic movies, some reprising their former roIes, to heIp destroy a massiveIy cheesy, atomic, stop-motion monster that stomps its way through scenes of mass destruction (depicted via extensive cIips from old movies), intent on the obIiteration of Los AngeIes. A direct homage to the horror/sci-fi/creature features of the 50s and 60s, right down to the poor quaIity film, rubber monster, bad dialogue, numerous puns and negIigible budget. What makes this fiIm so unique is the gathering of Iuminaries that came out of the woodwork to participate, incIuding the originaI stars of cIassic films Iike The Thing From Another WorId (Kenneth Tobey and Robert Cornwaithe) and War of the WorIds (Ann Robinson and Les Tremayne), Revenge of the Creature (John Agar) and PIan 9 From Outer Space and Night of the GhouIs (Paul Marco). ln addition to the stars of the 'Golden Age of horror/sci-fi/creature fiIms, we're treated to the addition of 80s and 90s scream queens, Linnea QuigIey and MicheIIe Bauer. The Naked Monster has something for everybody. Bonus features include: The deleted scenes extra contains finished moments dropped to keep the film from running to intolerable length. , A still photo gaIlery shows the cast and crew posing for fun at the various improvised locations: Bronson Caverns, Vasquez Rocks, etc.. , Director's Ted Newsom and Wayne Berwick commentary , A fan interview with Kenneth Tobey by Dr. Franklin Riehl |
